Burners: Up Close and Personal
There's been a lot of smoke blown about in the grill market lately about burners and burner resources. One manufacturer says this, and yet another says that, one sales rep tells you there is very little huge difference, the following tells you it is the heart and soul of one's grill.

How do you prevent burn-through? Well, you *could* keep carefully the burner clear. This can be a messy and time-consuming process, as you have to obtain in there with a tiny, sharp instrument and watchfully poke each little hole in the burner. *Some* companies actually require this, else the warranty is voided by you.
If this sounds like plenty of work, well, it is. It's a ton of work, and it's not the work on the earth.
There's a less strenuous way: understand what you are engaging in when you look at a particular grill. (At that time of the report, we were able to review a Star grill, a family member newcomer to the customer grill industry, which has been producing professional cooking equipment for nearly 80 years. The identical burner is used essentially by their new entries in the consumer market as DCS: a 14-gauge Metal Sheet Metal burner. The only difference we noted was the burner's feeder tube: the DCS is ramped up to the burner tube, while the Star's feeder tube is level with the burner tube.
