John Peebles Associates Ltd: Featured Role, Review
SPCA Auckland is a leading authority on animal welfare, with a strong focus on driving social change while representing the ‘voice of animals’ in Auckland. Well regarded for its successes in animal health, shelter and welfare, SPCA Auckland delivers an effective enforcement service for the community, through its inspectorate service. In addition, its comprehensive public engagement programme is geared to drive education and awareness of animal welfare.
Supported by benefactors, sponsors, volunteers, community partners and well known to the people of Auckland and pet owners, the organisation has a clear strategy for the future and is focused on evidence-based decision making to deliver sustainably on its charitable purpose.
After steady leadership and a period of growth, SPCA Auckland is in a strong financial and operational position. The CEO’s role is to continue the journey of financial sustainability while delivering a wide range of strategic initiatives and operational services to the highest standards. As a key spokesperson for SPCA Auckland, the CEO is responsible for building and maintaining the organisation’s reputation and credibility and ensuring effective interaction with a wide variety of key stakeholders.
This is a challenging and interesting CEO position given the organisation’s vision, values and aspirations and the complexity and breadth of SPCA Auckland’s operations. Education, animal advocacy, brand integrity management, revenue generation, people leadership, animal welfare, prosecutions, donor development and external stakeholder relations are just some of those responsibilities.
Candidates will have a successful track record in operational and strategic leadership and have demonstrated their ability to execute strategy in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders. An understanding of organisational processes and systems along with commercial acumen and exceptional interpersonal skills will be critical.
