ED&F Man Capital Markets Hosting & Infrastructure - LAN

In low-latency trading every nanosecond counts.  The Local Network Infrastructure (LAN) is the process over which your hardware sends and receives messages from other computers.  People often confuse bandwidth with latency.  Bandwidth is measured in “bits per second” - how much data volume we can pass over the network in a given amount of time; latency is measured in increments of time, small fractions of a second - how long it takes for a bit of data to move from one end of a network to the other. Using a car analogy, bandwidth is our top speed, latency is our acceleration. For a LAN, the basic emphasis is on Bandwidth.

ED&F Man Capital Markets Hosting & Infrastructure is a global financial brokerage business and the financial services division of ED&F Man.
