Every era and decade has its fashion batik keris that end up turning out to be an icon of that amount of time in history. The Fifties in particular were an interesting time, as many new and bold styles found their way onto the marketplace. This was actually the time when teenagers began to dress more evocatively and discovered a style of their own - and for that reason they have continued to do so ever since.
Individual clothing items also made their way in to the public eye during this time period. popular chain stores started selling important pieces such as knitted sweater dresses. Owing to the widespread nature of the stores lots of people were able to get hold of the items and put them on frequently as a result.
Women had a very specific look to follow through the Fifties. Full skirts were very much the order of your day, but above this the waistline was very much tucked in. This was the case with both skirts and dresses. Floral designs were also very popular in conjunction with these dresses and skirts aswell.
Even outerwear such as coats and jackets got this same look for ladies. The coats flared outwards as they went down, covering the skirts of the same design. They tended to become buttoned up to the collar and the collar itself could be very close fitting at times. The whole look could possibly be topped off with a hat that was either very large with a wide brim or very small and minimal, such as a pill box design.
Some items of 1950s fashion were also continued from previous decades. An example was the bobby sock, an item of clothes that was also popular during the 1940s. This was easily in conjunction with many of the 1950s fashions for ladies, creating a look that is still iconic of those times today.
Nylon stockings were also coming into their own during the Fifties. A lot of this was because of the fact that nylon was developed during World Battle Two. This meant a lot of women were now taking the chance to add these new stockings into their overall fashion wardrobe.
In many ways the Fifties had been an iconic time. This period are remembered and instantly recognised through the clothes that were worn back then. Many of the fashion items were fairly simple however you like, driven largely by the fact that World War Two hadn't long come to an end. Expensive items were not commensurate with the days, but innovation certainly was.
But even today people can take inspiration from the Fifties. Classic jewellery is among the most popular methods to bring inspiration out of this era into the 21st century, mixing it with modern styles to create just one more new fashion look.
