Considering that unintentionally doped CdS usually exhibits n-type electrical conduction, the value of the peak energy infers that G band should be assigned to the near band-edge emission (NBE) of nc-CdS, i.e., the radiative recombination of excitons [27] and [28]. With temperature increasing, the peak position shows firstly a blue-shift at a low temperature region (10–100 K) and then a red-shift at high temperature region (100–300 K), as shown by the upper curve in Fig. 4(a).
