2.2. Field methods
Because both the prairie and savanna have a continuous grassland ground layer that L-Mimosine together form the key component of the oak savanna, and for practical limitations (see Results & Discussion), we combined the prairie and savanna ecotope in our analysis. We selected and sampled 47 plots that represented one of the three current ecotopes ( Fig. 3b): 25 forest plots, 16 transition plots and 6 savanna plots. Note that the number of sampling sites is not proportionate with the area Fungi represent.
