The results reveal a slowly increasing trend in the consumptive water use proportion for most PAMs, except for total cropland (Fig. 4(a)) in Heilongjiang, Neimenggu, Guizhou, Sichuan, Gansu and Yunnan provinces. The percentages in these LY2603618 regions decreased by 0.56%, 0.47%, 0.13%, 0.11%, 0.10% and 0.07% per year, respectively. The low rates were estimated in PAMs located south of the Yangtze River and in northwest China (except Shaanxi). PAMs in the southwest and on the North China Plain exhibited relatively high ratios. Provincial values ranged from 56.01% to 89.77% during the study period. Shaanxi possessed the largest percentage, followed by Yunnan (88.60%), Chongqing (88.23%) and Guizhou (88.19%). 6 additional provinces, Sichuan, Shanxi, Hubei, Beijing, Xizang and Shandong, exhibited productive proportions above 80.00%, while another 15 PAMs fell between 70.00% and 80.00%. The lowest value was estimated for Xinjiang, which was the only region with a tertiary structure ratio less than 60.0%.
