Bo Derek's plastic surgery, aging and beauty tips: Vegetarian diet and workout - National Celebrity Fitness and Health

Bo Derek, who became an international sex symbol after starring in the 1979 movie "10," sizzles at age 58, thanks to a mostly vegetarian diet and an active lifestyle that does not include gym workouts. Derek has not had plastic surgery and said aging is "not for sissies."

While Bo has long been hailed for her bombshell beauty, she takes a casual approach to her looks, but admitd aging is hard. "I realize how artificial it is, beauty," Derek told CBS News. "I realize that it doesn't last forever. Aging is really hard, and it's tough. Bette Davis was right: It's not for sissies."

Bo hasn't had any plastic surgery on her face, but often gets criticized for not going under the knife because her face doesn't have the wax-like Botoxed look many Hollywood celebrities sport.

"I get credit on one hand for not having had a facelift, and then on the other hand it's, 'Oh my God, why doesn't she do something?' So you're just torn," said Derek. "I just have to keep busy, have other interests, and try not to think about it."

Bo, an animal lover who lives on a ranch with four horses, has maintained her willowy "Perfect 10" body with a mostly vegetarian (not vegan) diet and an active lifestyle that includes shoveling horse manure and doing other manual labor around her sprawling 110-acre ranch. While Derek does not do structured exercise, her daily chores keep her fit and active.

Another blonde beauty who's vegetarian is supermodel Christie Brinkley, who credited a mostly plant-based diet and yoga workouts for her hot bikini body at 61.

'I Never Needed the Adoration or the Praise'

Bo, who was married to the late director John Derek, from 1976 until his death in 1998, has been dating actor John Corbett since 2002.

Bo and Corbett, 54 (who played Aidan Shaw on "Sex and the City"), live together on a ranch in California's Santa Ynez Valley. Derek, who has no children, has made peace with being childless.

"For a long time I wanted children," Bo told Oprah Winfrey in 2013. "When I was about 30 or 32, I really thought about it. But John [Derek] had two children from a previous marriage, and it wasn't really natural for him. I had to consider that eventually I would be raising a child alone. So, when the time came, he said yes, we were all set and I said, 'No.' "

Interestingly, the woman who was married for 22 years to a man 30 years older is now happily in love with a man four years younger. Looking back, Derek admits the 30-year age gap between her and her late husband John caused problems in the later years of her marriage.

"There were things he couldn't do physically," Bo recalled. "He was starting to see his own mortality and it was bothering him. It wasn't his nature to be infirm in any way."

Derek, who has no desire to remarry, said it was love at first sight when she met the strapping, 6-foot-5 Corbett in 2002. "It was love at first sight," said Bo. "I was crazy about him from that moment. He's charming and funny, so different from my husband."

Bo, who has always loved the outdoors and her peaceful existence, is happy with her life and doesn't mind that her fame quietly receded as she got older. "I never needed the adoration or the praise," said Derek, who stars in "Sharnado 3" as Tara Reid's mom. "I loved the work, and still do."
