Harvey Bish made his money welding custom adapters that let farmers mix and match their yellow, orange or green combines and harvesting heads.
He got into the businesses in 1976. With one of his adapters, you could stick a Case Snapper corn head on a John Deer combine or a John Deere soybean head on a Gleaner combine. He built oversize grain bins for combines, too, 220-bushel bins, huge for the day.
Hed delivered them to Illinois, North Dakota or Texas.
Id have an empty trailer coming back, and Id see an old car sitting behind the filling station or something. And Id sometimes get it bought, Bish, now approaching 86, said the other day while leaning against the bumper of
