AS DEMI Lovato prepares to release her latest album, Confident, she"s decided to show what it really means to be confident " by baring all in a photo shoot for Vanity Fair.
"When I think of confident, I think of many things," the former Disney star says in a Vanity Fair video. "But one thing in particular is feeling comfortable in your own skin. And I thought there was something incredible about the idea of no makeup whatsoever, no clothes and no retouching."

Lovato, who has been open about her battle with eating disorders and body image issues, said after a lot of hard work she finally feels comfortable with herself and her body.
"I would have never thought that I would have gotten to a place in my life where I could feel comfortable doing that. It's empowering."
The decision to do the photos (taken by photographer Patrick Ecclesine) sans makeup, clothes and retouching, was something that just came to her in the moment " spurred on by the loss of her great grandfather Buddy Moore. "If there"s one thing I"ve learned in the past day, it"s that life is too short," the 23-year-old told Vanity Fair.

"I'm about to launch an album that finally represents who I truly am. How do I embrace this new chapter in my life? How do I really walk the walk? What does it mean to be confident? It means letting go, being authentic, saying I don't give a f@*k and this is who I am. I want to show the side of me that's real, that's liberated, that's free."
