A Teacher Is Under Investigation Over Her Sarcastic E-Cards on Pinterest

An elementary school teacher in Texas is being investigated by her school district after a parent complained about her social media posts.

The unidentified teacher works at Columbia Heights Elementary School in San Antonio.

She reportedly posted three e-cards to her Pinterest account that one parent found inappropriate. The parent now wants the HarlandaleIndependent School District to take action.

One e-card said: "Do you want to hear a secret? You're the reason your teachers are alcoholics."

The "someecards" have become wildly popular on social media.

The district said it has just started the process of looking into the posts.

On "Outnumbered" today, Kirsten Powers said the "speech police" are getting out of control.

"What is wrong with people?" Powers questioned. "I mean it's like the speech police [are] everywhere. This person should be allowed to post things on their private page."

Sandra Smith countered that joking about alcoholism is "tasteless." Powers said it was clearly a joke.

"A teacher can't make a joke in her private life?" she asked.

Andrea Tantaros sided with Kirsten, saying people need to learn to take a joke.

"Do people just hate fun nowadays?" she asked.

Comedian Adam Carolla said the fear of saying something offensive can be "stifling." He explained that sometimes he has an idea for a funny tweet, but doesn't send it because it could offend people.

"I don't know why we want to silence everybody. ... A lot of comedians have just shut up. We wouldn't have wanted Lenny Bruce or Richard Pryor to shut up," he said.
