How to Paint Terracotta Planters so They Don't Look Painted

I've inherited quite a few plants and they can't all go in $200 planters. After making over the plant stand my papa made by refreshing it with paint and adding DIY walnut shelves, I set my sights on other tired, hand-me-down plant stands.

Among the plants I inherited (I told you there were quite a few!) was this little guy. I keep forgetting his actual name, but to me he looks like he belongs in Whoville, so we call him the Whoville plant. He came with a cute plant stand that just needed a blast of white spray paint to freshen it up.
