Barry said: "I'm following in the footsteps of Jimmy Nesbitt. "Being involved in this campaign is not something that I would have dreamt of a few weeks ago.

"I honestly have no idea why I was picked to be included in Yellow Pages' new advertising campaign but it is an absolute privilege to be involved.

"Now I'm looking forward to seeing the reactions of my friends and family who are all convinced that my claims of a starring role are a wind-up."

Barry tells viewers how important being in the book has been for his business, Abbey Pest Control and Environmental Services. He says: "Yellow Pages was the backbone in starting my own business and I have no doubt that my business wouldn't be where it is today without it."

The use of business owners who advertise in the Yellow Pages as part of the campaign signals a fresh approach for the company who normally focus on customers.

Chief marketing officer Helen Stevenson said: "Yell aims to connect consumers with business, service and trades people.

"It's the goal of this campaign to shine a spotlight on the personalities at the heart of the Yellow Pages - the bussiness owners themselves.

"Our brand continues to be at the heart of modern UK life supplying the public with access to the brilliant characters such as Barry within our directories."

Joining Barry is a wide range of people who have been filmed and pictured going about their jobs.

They include a plasterer from Edinburgh, a vet from Surrey and a roofer from Newcastle.
