This class can be very difficult for students who aren't willing to put in extra efforts to learn how to identify rock types and geological formations. There exists a lot of memorization that is required in this class. However, there are also a lot of fun activities involved like taking field journeys to regional geological formations, collecting rocks and nutrients and completing experiments on rock and mineral samples.
Some college students that struggle in other classes find that geology is an improved fit for them academically. Learners that enjoy this class usually enjoy being outside and exploring rough terrain. College students that usually do not enjoy this class are learners that prefer lab work as opposed to field work and that generally prefer inactive fields of study.
