Shave one side of both ends so that an inch and a half of the ends at flattened. This taper allowed me to use one sapling for all my trap components. It takes time and patience to catch food using a snare, it evens takes you setting several snares just to catch one animal. The pressure from the pull of the sapling should cause the toggle to attempt to twist off of the cross bar and put enough pressure on the trigger stick and the toggle should stay in place. My plan was to try trapping on the property to see what kinds of wildlife would be available to us in an emergency situation.
