Getting Your Car Ready For the Summer Months This past summer I had to get a battery for my 69 Firebird. This is the sixth battery I have gotten since I owned it. That averages to five years for each battery. Not bad but I be prepared to get 10 years using this brand new one. The reason for my optimism is always that I have a new maintainer that not only keeps it charged but desulphates it too! Motor oil is shipped from your oil pump for your vehicles crankshaft, valvetrain, as well as other components. On its way, it passes through the filter. It leaves behind the dirt and particles which have accumulated since the last time you changed the oil. However, if the O.F. does its job properly, it is going to carry on and collect debris to the point of becoming clogged. Once that happens, you will have to replace it. The association of chief law enforcement officers (ACPO) have witnessed this new technology for doing things and so are considering it. The ACPO have become much towards speed cameras, so they will tend to be quite excited with that new technology! They were apparently very thinking about this new scanner, which can accurately scan car and 4x4 tyres for tread depth. The question for all of us motorists, is if this scheme can be a money spinner or a real road safety improvement measure? If this scanner was introduced it would undoubtedly make a fortune in fines, and with penalty points a possibility at the same time this might be a costly business for the unsuspecting driver. Of course, all drivers should realize how to check their tyre treads, and do so regularly, but what happens should you drive over the pothole, having a chunk from the tyre tread after which drive over this scanner before you even manage to get home? Will they take things that way into account, or will it be an immediate fine? 3. Even when you think there is nothing wrong along with your car, take it over for routine maintenance. A good reminder would after every 10,000 miles. Skimping on that routine car maintenance is not recommended. Try to take read more it to a repair shop for thorough checking on brakes, belts, exhaust, the engine and anything else which should be done in accordance with the car owners manual. That said, lots of garages will over-bill about the labor, knowing the customer wont ever know the difference. For example, if you want your alternator replaced, have you any idea how much time the position should require to execute? Most people dont. So, the repair shop will bill the client for 2 or three hours even if the task takes one hour and a half.
