According to Mr Nderitu Gachagua, the panel decided Mr Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr William Ruto should come up with the party name, which they will use to seek re-election in the 2017 General Election. “It was difficult for us as members of (the) Jubilee coalition to agree on a name. Nevertheless, the new name must start with ‘Jubilee’,” he told the Daily Nation in an interview. He said the name “Jubilee” is important because they used it during the last elections and because their supporters have become fond of it. Therefore, they have no choice but to use it, he added. Mr Gachagua, the Nyeri County governor, also noted that the two principals must come up with the new name before December 18, after all willing small parties will have merged to form the new party and before they meet at Kasarani to launch it. He added that his team is preparing a schedule they will use to convene a meeting with all the MCAs, governors, senators and MPs allied to the Jubilee coalition.
