Big Lottery Fund in Scotland is set to be slashed
Government stays silent despite 'perverse' taunts

There are reports the British government is about to slash 40% from Scotland’s Big Lottery Fund which equates to a £30 million reduction of money donated to charities there.
A blog from Save Lottery Funding has said the UK government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport wants to reduce funding to arts and sports organisations and sees this as a way of facilitating the cuts. Many believe that a £30 million reduction would be catastrophic for the charity sector in Scotland with a Scottish government spokesman pointing out that "cuts to the Big Lottery funding would have serious implications for communities across Scotland.” while David Mundell MP called the governments plans “perverse” demanding a rethink. The UK government declined to comment.
