Rebecca Richards-Kortum

RebeccaRichards-Kortum is Professor of Bioengineering at Rice University. She is the co-founder of Beyond TraditionalBorders (BTB), a program which challenges undergraduate students to createaffordable technologies for use primarily in Third World countries. Together with her colleague Maria Oden, shewas last year awarded the prestigious Lemelson-MIT Prize and they donated the$100,000 check to the hospital in Africa which inspired the BTB program.
