An annual trip or two to the Balearics has been an almost religious pilgrimage for the last 14 years of my life - but always to the devilishly hedonistic Ibiza rather than larger neighbour Majorca.

Like many, I pretty much wrote off the island as a hellish neon-fest crammed with tacky theme bars, scabby chip shops and sunburned neds.

Yes, some of it is exactly like that, but there is also an altogether different side of the island which makes it an ideal destination for anyone looking for a relaxing break in glamourous surroundings.

My girlfriend Deborah and I had previously enjoyed
