Michael Phelps swam the fastest time in the world this year as he blew away the field to win the 100 meters butterfly at the U.S. championships in San Antonio on Saturday.

The most decorated Olympian of all-time led from start to finish, clocking a stunning 50.45 seconds.

Phelps's time, the second-fastest ever recorded in a standard swimsuit, bettered the 50.56 South African Chad Le Clos clocked to win the same event at the world championship
