How To Add A HP Printer To A Wireless Network

HP printers can be added to your network in a number of ways, depending on the model of your printer and your network configuration. We'll show you a couple of ways to do this. Before you start, make sure that your printer, computer and your network are on, working properly and ready for action.

Wireless Printer Guide

1. Verify that your configuration is compatible with HP Auto Wireless Connect. In order to use this method, your computer and your network configuration must meet the following requirements:

  • Your computer must use Windows Vista onwards (PC), or OS X 10.5 (Leopard) onwards (Mac).
  • Your computer must be connected to a wireless router 802.11 b/g / on a connection of 2.4 Ghz. 5.0GHz networks are not currently supported by HP (1/1/2013).
  • The OS of your computer should be in control of your wireless adapter.
  • Your computer uses a wireless connection to your network and your operating system.
  • Your computer uses a dynamic IP address, not a static.

2. Download the most recent printing for your HP software. The address is http://www.hp.com/go/customercare. Make sure that the software you choose is for the model of your printer to your operating system.

3. Runs the installer. Follow the instructions that appear on-screen until the installer asks you the type of connection. Select "Network (Ethernet/wireless)" as the connection type, then choose "Yes, send my wireless settings to the printer (recommended)".

  • The installer will perform the rest of the configuration automatically.
  • Note: during the configuration of HP Auto Wireless Connect, your computer will be disconnected temporarily the Internet. Be sure to end with any download or have completed your online activity before proceeding.
  • Note: If these options are not you offered during installation or if it is not successful, will guide you to use the wireless configuration method:Runs the installer.
