Expect Delays Entering Detroit Metro Airport off I-94/Merriman Rd.

DETROIT--()--Motorists headed to Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) from I-94

or Merriman Road (north of the airport) should expect significant delays

entering and exiting the airport due to critical roadwork planned

through September.

Beginning this week, road crews will begin the complete reconstruction

of the Goddard Rd. Extension bridge crossing Merriman Rd. at DTW's north

entrance. As a result, traffic entering and exiting the Airport via

Merriman Rd./I-94 will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

Overnight, traffic will be stopped at the airport's north entrance

altogether periodically as necessary to remove and replace structural

beams for the bridge above.

Meanwhile, traffic normally using the Goddard Rd. bridge across Merriman

Rd. will be re-routed via airport service drives. Detour signage will be

displayed directing traffic along the alternate route.

Airport employees, especially those at the North Terminal who park in

the airport's Blue Deck Employee area, should allow extra time to park

and report to their workstations.

Due to other roadway projects elsewhere surrounding Detroit Metro

Airport, customers are urged to visit the Airport's Web site, www.metroairport.com,

when planning an alternate route for the latest traffic and construction

updates.
