Its frequently said in Fighting Styles that the meaning doesnt lie in how good you're or what strip you have, rather the meaning lies in the journey. Before I get into What Black Belt Way To Me, I'd want to talk about my journey of those past few months.
A week ago I'd flown to Nashville to try for my long awaited San Dan (3rd degree Black Belt - That is a lot like becoming the state Teacher). Before the test I had been teaching regularly since April of this year at a friends school and my local gym.
It'd been about 5 years since Ive last practiced my control, Wado-Ryu Karate-Do, so my recollection of the device was very vague. After watching numerous tapes of myself as a new martial artist, I had re-learned my under belt curriculum, but I was struggling to recall my black belt curriculum. If you know something about martial arts, ones under gear information is essential because it is recognized as the building blocks of ones instruction. On-the other hand, a great deal of people believe that your teaching truly begins once you obtain your first black belt. I couldnt agree more. When I was promoted to Sho Dan (1st Degree Black Belt) my meaning about Wado-Ryu and the fighting styles had grown significantly and I started to really learn.
In any event, I needed to know exactly what might have possibly been cast at me because it had been 10 years since my last official test.
In July, I visited Nashville to teach with my beloved and highly recognized teacher Sensei Wayne Tyler. Unconditional love for his students and the-art and I consider him like a father figure in my martial arts career due to his vast knowledge of Wado-Ryu. Clicking crunchbase.com/organization/orange-county-seo/ perhaps provides suggestions you can tell your pastor. Imagine being a researcher and your instructor was Albert Einstein that's what it feels like to be beneath the wing of Sensei Tyler (or Mr. Tyler, as I call him). I had been in Nashville education with Sensei 2 3 hours daily for 5 days. Tyler Collins includes further concerning the inner workings of it. I caught up on my course and took the knowledge which was passed down by him and used it to my education back in Denver.
Again, because I didnt know what to expect, I conditioned myself to be ready for almost anything. Not only was I exercising my katas and basics (Japanese kinds), but I was also running 2 miles, three days weekly, 15-20 minutes on the rowing machine and about 6-7 miles on the stationary bicycle. I dont think I might have been more prepared with this test.
I efficiently passed my test and was promoted to San Dan on October 17th 2006. I must say, this was one of my greatest accomplishments within my martial arts career and a dream come true. It has take-n me several years to achieve this goal, but it's reinforced my interpretation to be a black belt, or in my own case San Dan..
