Chora implies the outside of the city so when church was manufactured in 5th century, it was settled a long way from the downtown area. Despite the fact that it is situated inside the Land Walls constructed by Theodosius II , yet sadly, there are no remaining parts left from the first church. Around then its unique name was St. Rescuer in Chora, after a short time, tragically church was endured and demolished by seismic tremors. After a short time in 11th century, church was built following two centuries by Maria Doukaina, mother by marriage of Alexius Comnenos I.
The structural planning of the Chora is hauntingly delightful, it is not as expansive as a portion of the other Byzantine houses of worship anyway it has more excellence of its inside.
