I played World portail design of Warcraft for pretty much two years. During those years we had the Honor System, not the token system that exists today. I was obviously a Lieutenant Commander of the Alliance. Now I am sure I lost all of the Horde players and Paladin haters right there. The honor system allowed players to compete for the top ranking of Grand Marshal or High Warlord. This system allowed players to work as hard because they could to obtain whatever they desired. But, those who did much like me were rewarded hamsomly.
I played a bit of the current token system, but never felt in your own home with it. This system allowed players to work as hard as they could to have the things they desired. I could relate to them and admire them. This was the reason that I quit WoW, because it took away the only real presitge offered inside the game and opened it up to everyone.
It took away the prestige of the game, it rewarded the ordinary and penalized the super elite class of pvpers that had developed through the honor days. The token system took away the honor and admiration for your best pvpers. These ranks portail design installed a a feeling of loyalty and admiration for that player. By taking away the ranks and making the honor avaliable to everyone, it suddenly made the best section of the game, the honor system, simply a formality to grinding pvp gear.
