I played World of Warcraft for almost two years. And, I was obviously a retribution Paladin. And, I would be a retribution Paladin. But, yes I was obviously a great Paladin and PVPer on my server. During those years we had the Honor System, not the token system that exists today.
I played a little of the current token system, but never felt in the home portail design with it. These ranks installed a sense of loyalty and admiration for your player. I could relate in their mind and admire them. The token system simply allowed everyone to obtain what they wanted if they worked hard enough.
The honor system allowed players to compete for the top ranking of Grand Marshal or High Warlord. No longer could you compete to be a high rank, you can simply play as hard so when long when you could and obtain the rare armor, like everyone else. The token system simply allowed everyone to get whatever they wanted if they worked hard enough.
I believe that the honor system to be superior for the token system in everyway. This system allowed players to work as hard because they could to obtain the things they desired. This system allowed players to work as hard as they could to obtain what they desired. By taking away the ranks and making the honor avaliable to everyone, it suddenly made the best part of the game, the honor system, simply a formality to grinding pvp gear.
It took away the prestige of the game, it rewarded the ordinary and penalized the super elite class of pvpers which had developed during the honor days. . This was the reason that I quit WoW, as it took away the only presitge offered within the game and opened up to everyone.
