I played World of Warcraft for pretty much two years. But, yes I would be a great Paladin and PVPer on my small server. During those years we had the Honor System, not the token system that exists today. Now I am sure I lost all the Horde players and Paladin haters right there. During those years we had the Honor System, not the token system that exists today.
The honor system allowed players to compete for that top ranking of Grand Marshal or High Warlord. World PVP was discouraged. The token system simply allowed everyone to get the things they wanted if they worked hard enough.
I believe that the honor system being superior for the token system in everyway. I could relate for them and admire them. This was the reason that I quit WoW, as portail design it took away the only real presitge offered in the game and opened it to everyone.
It took away the prestige of the game, it rewarded the ordinary and penalized the super elite class of pvpers that had developed during the honor days. No longer could you compete to be a premier rank, you could simply play as hard and as long when you could and obtain the rare armor, like everyone else. This system allowed players to work as hard as they could to portail design get whatever they desired. By taking away the ranks and making the honor avaliable to everyone, it suddenly made the best section of the game, the honor system, simply a formality to grinding pvp gear.
