I played World of Warcraft for almost two years. I was a Lieutenant Commander of the Alliance. During those years we had the Honor System, not the token system that exists today.

I believe that the honor system to become superior towards the token system in everyway. These were the best of the best, the best players on the server. I could relate in their mind and admire them. This was the main reason that I quit WoW, since portail design it took away the only portail design real presitge offered inside the game and opened up to everyone.



It took away the prestige of the game, it rewarded the ordinary and penalized the super elite class of pvpers that had developed during the honor days. World PVP was discouraged. The token system simply allowed everyone to get whatever they wanted if they worked hard enough.

Sure, the cons towards the honor system were that not everyone could get the rare armor, not everyone could play 15 hours a day to get enough kills and honor points to level up after the week. World PVP was discouraged. By taking away the ranks and making the honor avaliable to everyone, it suddenly made the best part of the game, the honor system, simply a formality to grinding pvp gear.
