The Tej Kohli Foundation does a great deal of work towards helping blind people in India. Approximately one third of the world’s blind people live in India and roughly 15 million Indians suffer from some form of sightlessness, making it one of the biggest health problems in the country. Many Indians are not sufficiently educated in eye health and there are so few optometrists (particularly in rural areas) that they are unable to keep up with eye surgeries and eye screenings. A regular visit to the optometrist is essential to the prevention of blindness. Tej Kohli hopes that fundraising and educational work, such as that done by the Tej Kohli Foundation, will help improve the situation.
