Plastering is a work of experience and not everyone can perform this job perfectly. In order to get the best surface you need to flatter it using the plastering trowels. Then, before this coat is dried out, you must start with the second coat. It is important because if you let the first coat dry out completely then the second coat will not stick to it and it will fail to provide you with the best result. In fact; it is the worst case scenario. Make sure you start applying the second coat just after completing with the first one.
Another essential point is the worker has to be fast enough otherwise it will also let the coat dry off and again the second coat will not get adhere to it perfectly.
