An exclusive index regulator system that allows the Breitling watch timing to be customized to the wearer
For its 125th anniversary, Breitling has chosen to issue a limited series of the model that became the first wrist chronograph to experience space travel. Only 1, 000 of these Cosmonaute watches will be produced, all equipped for the occasion with an original version of the intriguing 24-hour dial. Further accentuating its distinctive character and in tribute to a modern design icon from the 1960s, the Cosmonaute Limited Edition is fitted exclusively with the rigid perforated breitling Chronomat replica bracelet. Given the extremely relative nature of day and night in space, this configuration prevents possible confusion between midday and midnight. On May 24th 1962, the astronaut Scott Carpenter tested this instrument under real-life conditions during his orbital flight aboard the Aurora 7 capsule.
The Breitling Airwolf and Skyracer Raven Special editions both come with rack-and-pinion mounted slide rules. Each case is 43. 5 mm in diameter. The Skyracer is 200 meters water-resistant and the Airwolf is 50m. Today Breitling launched their new Chronomat B01. It is now available at 33 US retailers nationwide. Announced prior to Baselworld, this chronograph features Breitling's first manufacture movement. The column-wheel type chronograph movement is accurate to a 1/4th of a second. It features 47 jewels and beats at 28, 800 vph. But what is most significant, is that it was developed and manufactured entirely in-house. And Breitling can actually manufacture up to 50, 000 movements per year. Breitling is launching a new in-house mechanical chronograph movement at Baselworld 2009, Calibre B01. The new movement has a column wheel, a vertical-trigger mechanism and a power reserve of over 70 hours. The watch features a patented mechanism for auto-centering of the reset hammers and an exclusive index regulator system that allows the watch's timing to be customized to the wearer.
The Cosmonaute features a Breitling Caliber 22 movement, officially chronometer-certified by the COSC (like all Breitlings), selfwinding, high-frequency (28, 800 vph), 38 jewels, 1/5th of a second chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers. Flyback function. Calendar. Case 41. 5 mm diameter in stainless steel. Limited series of 1, 000; black dial. Resistant to 3 bars. Rotating bezel with circular slide rule. Cambered sapphire crystal, glareproofed on both sides. The bracelet is a steel Air Racer.
These are the new Raven models from Breitling, the Skyracer (above) and the Airwolf (below). The Airwolf is powered by an exclusive SuperQuartz? movement. This movement functions with extreme accuracy and can measure 1/100th of a second chronograph times. It also features a 2nd timezone, alarm, countdown timer and UTC. A NVG-compatible display backlighting system enables night time reading. A turbine-shaped caseback functions as a resonance chamber for the alarm and other audible indications. The Skyracer is powered by a mechanical self-winding chronograph movement, Caliber 27. This watch movement is capable of displaying dual measured times. The 60-minute counter (on the right) can display times under one hour. For times longer than one hour, a single two-hand counter (on the left) shows both hours and minutes. The elapsed time can easily be read off this subdial, just like you normally read the time. Very cool.
