2.3. Microbial CA074 analysis
Samples taken from each reactor on the date of the highest VFAs production were centrifuged at 13,000 rpm for 5 min (Labogene 1524, Denmark) and the supernatant was decanted. The remaining cell-pellet was resuspended with 0.5 mL of deionized and distilled water (DDW) and centrifuged again under the same condition mentioned above. The supernatant was discarded and the cell-pellet was resuspended with 100 μL of DDW. Total DNA was extracted and purified from the suspension utilizing a Nucleo Spin soil kit (Macherey–Nagel, Germany). The purified DNA was stored at −20 °C for subsequent analysis.
