Men, be honest: Do you want you had been larger? Almost definitely, the solution is yes.
"I believe there is not a guy on the planet who has not wished his penis had been an inch or two lengthier," states Michael O'Leary, MD, professor of urologic surgery at Harvard Medical College and a urologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.
Nevertheless, after much more than a century of generally doubtful and occasionally lunatic penis enlargement makes an attempt, there is nonetheless not much you are able to do. Sure, there are lots and lots of supposed choices out there -- penis pills, lotions, brutal stretching exercises, horrific-looking devices, and penis surgical procedure. Almost none of it works. The few approaches that may function frequently have modest advantages and severe aspect results. How severe? In some instances, erectile dysfunction-serious.
"Trust me, if I understood of the method to securely and successfully increase penis size, I'd be considered a billionaire," O'Leary tells WebMD. "But I do not. Nobody does."
Nonetheless, typical sense doesn't quit size-obsessed men from attempting very sketchy remedies on a vital component in their anatomy -- and jeopardizing a great deal within the process.
How Little Is really a Little penis?
Think you are smaller sized than average? You're probably not.
The typical erect penis is usually 5 to 6 inches long having a circumference of four to 5 inches. There's much more variation in the size of flaccid penises.
Some guys are genuinely smaller than that. In rare cases, genetics and hormone problems trigger a situation called micropenis -- an erect penis of below 3 inches. Sometimes Peyronie's disease or prostate cancer surgical procedure can decrease a guy's dimension.
But studies show that most from the guys seeking penis enlargement are average-sized. They just think they're beneath typical.
Why? Part of it is viewpoint. It's extremely hard to gauge the dimensions of your personal penis -- looking down, you've got a bad angle.
Psychology performs a role, too. Some average-sized men turn out to be obsessive about the idea that they're as well little. There is even a psychiatric diagnosis: penile dysmorphic disorder. It is much like the perceptual distortion of anorexics who think they're body fat regardless of how skinny they get.
According to one study, the majority of men who get penis enlargement surgery have this condition. They are also the least satisfied with the results.
