The Pokemon Fever
Pokemon—one of the most successful multimedia franchises in the world. For the majority of the people who grew up with the franchise, it's either they heard of the video game or they've seen the anime. The first season of Pokemon is considered as the most memorable of the entire anime franchise. The obvious reason for this is that the season centered on the first 150 Pokemons (and everyone who was part of that generation can still remember all of the names).
Whether you were addicted to the series or not, it's impossible that you have not heard of Pokemon. Just to refresh your memories a bit, the story of the Pokemon anime revolves on the adventures of Ash Ketchum as he conquers different battles and explores new lands in order to become a Pokemon master. Along his journey, he teams up with Brock (a former gym leader and Pokemon Breeder) and Misty (also a former gym leader, but one who wants to discover more about water Pokemons). The popular "mascot" in the entire franchise is Pikachu, a cute yellow electric Pokemon whom Ash is very close with.
Like any other anime series, there are also antagonists, of course. What makes the Pokemon anime maintain its popularity is the funny duo, Jessie and James of Team Rocket. They are accompanied by Meowth, a cat Pokemon who speaks the human language.
Aside from the anime with ongoing episodes and a new series, the franchise also has movies, which are mostly centered on the rare and legendary Pokemons. Although some of the episodes are badly produced, it never fails to capture our hearts with the nostalgia it evokes. Admit it—whenever you watch an episode of Pokemon, you can’t help but think about the good old times. I am expecting the Pokemon fever to continue burning. As long as they continue making their games, the anime will never die.
