3. Results and discussion
3.1. Surface morphology

3.2. Phase composition
The XRD spectra are commonly used to determine the composition of materials and treated surfaces. Fig. 3 shows the composition peaks of the samples, Fig. 3a indicates the peaks of the substrate, which showed a composition of almost all Mg. After anodization, the layer stomatal apparatus formed appeared to be composed of Mg, MgO, ZrO2 and Mg2Zr5O12. The resulting peaks were consistent with those from previous studies that had been concluded with zirconium participates in film formation reactions during anodization and PEO processes, where zirconium compounds, including Mg2Zr5O12 and t-ZrO2, were deposited as the main phase of the layer that formed [19], [27] and [28].
