The searchfor New Jersey's best tattoo shop has quickly galvanizedink fans across the state.

Last week, we asked NJ.com readers to nominate their favorite in-state ink spot, and received a staggering response more than 600 comments and emails. We read a slew of great testimonials and were given beautiful shots of dozens of artists' work, from tiny tats tosprawlingback pieces.

More than 100 tattoo shops across 20 counties were nominated, and from there we narrowed the field down to the Top 30 spanning 13 counties. Each of these popular spots, which spanfrom Bergento Cumberland, received five or more nominations. The shop that received the most attention was Rorschach Gallery in Edison, with nearly 50 endorsements.

Vote for your favorite New Jersey tattoo shop in the poll below (listed alphabetically by hometown).

Due to the overwhelming response, we have altered the contest a bit, and added an extraround to allow more businesses a chance to showcase their stuff. The poll below closes Tuesday at 9 a.m., and from these 30 shops listed, the top 10 vote-getters will advance to the semi-finals. They willbe announced Aug. 27.

I willcontacteach of the 10 semi-finalists Tuesday and Wednesday and allow them to submit afew photos of their most incredible pieces. All of those images will be placed into a photo slideshow, which will accompany the Aug. 27 announcement.

The 10 semi-finalists will be placed into a new poll, and starting on Aug. 27, readers will be able to view photos from each shop and vote for which five spots should advance to the finals.

From there, I will spend some time at each shop, report my findings along the way and determine which tattoo locale is New Jersey's finest.
