Fine art painted finishes for your home

You are unique, and therefore your home should be an expression of your individual style. If you need inspiration determining a wall treatment that will express your personality, you should consider contacting a local Colorado cooperative of artist that specialize in both decorative and fine arts for the home. At Surface Art Studios, you will find a community of artists available for almost any decorative paint project you can imagine. Susan Mattson of Cadmium Studios, Inc. and Darci Hill of D Hill Studios, Inc. are two of the founding artists who have called Surface Art Studios their home for the last several years. They both share a fine arts background and often collaborate. Pictured here is a sample of frescoed ceiling panels custom designed by this talented pair of artists for the indoor pool house of former NBA star Keith Van Horn's home in Evergreen, CO. They created a beautiful trompe l'oeil that fools you into thinking the ceiling is an open air trellis covered with blooming vines.

Currently both Susan and Darci have art panels on display at the Laughing Goat Coffee House in Boulder, Co. There you will find a sampling of their latest interest, verre glomis. This 18th century French technique of gilding glass can be applied to windows or framed glass panels for both practical or decorative use. They discussed a recent loft project in Denver, where an entire wall was covered with small panes of beveled glass treated in the style of verre glomis.

The professional artists at Surface Art Studios are the ones to contact if you are considering a unique wall finish in your home. Working directly with interior designers and clients, they will make a visit to your home to evaluate your space and listen to your vision. The artists will supply you with sample boards specific to your project, and help you visualize the finished results. On site application of paint, glazes, hand made papers, and plasters are custom tailored to your home's motif. More of Susan and Darci's work can be seen at The Streets at South Glenn shopping mall, and at the Symes Building in Denver.
