Orange County Schools Native National Parent Advisory Committee

Orange County Schools have taken an active part in the developing quality programs for several their members of the diverse student population. One program that has been developed is aimed at aiding student performance and improving instructional options for students of Native American history. The Indigenous American Parent Advisory Board functions under Title VII federal guidelines. It is consists of two non-elected positions and nine members; six elected members. The elected positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Teacher Representative, and Student Representative are elected at the start of every school year and a chosen by parents of Orange County Schools. The jobs currently are Joe Eslick Coordinator, Oryden Gould and Subject VII-Native American Program, Name VII Community Liaison/Secretary, who's of Cherokee decent. This program is intended to guide Native American students in getting large marks in language arts, reading, and mathematics. It satisfies this goal: by providing services in helping Native American students to meet Orange County Schools effectiveness standards; by ensuring that Native American students share in their school's Federal, State and local plans as considered necessary; by providing employment activities and family liaison services to meet the culturally related academic needs of Native American students; and by providing professional development opportunities to ensure that staff are correctly trained and prepared to do work with Native American students.

Local American Parent Advisory Committees Senior Identification Night

One event will Be The Kids Of Several Hues Powwow every July held. This celebration lasts three days and is backed by Redbird. Redbird is non-profit Native American charitable group. I-t tries to help in education of Indigenous Americans and improve the standard of living in the whole group. Redbird began through a series of displays named Spirits In The Material World Native Americans To-day which was shown at more than 100 locations throughout Southern California, and which was also exhibited in their state of Ohio in 1995. Yet another region event is Native American culture that is celebrated by the Annual Indian Fair.
