National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (DVD) Assessment
Hands-down, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is the best Christmas-themed comedy ever recorded. Personally, I ensure it is routine to look at this movie about ten million times between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Despite seeing the film so many times that I could repeat it word-for-word, Christmas Vacation remains as hilarious and entertaining because the previous holidays. More than only a seasonal video, its one of these rare comedies that it near-perfect from beginning to end.
Xmas Vacation follows the continuous uses of the Griswold family and Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase), but this kind of interpretation of the common Vacation films is arguably the most effective. As in the last films, Clarks goal is to produce the ideal holiday for his family. Only this time around, in the place of reaching the trail for Wally World or flying to Europe, the Griswolds stay-at home in suburban Chicago.
As Clarks frustrating, yuppie friend Margot, a personality combined with her equally elitist yuppie companion, Todd (Nicholas Guest) Julia Louis-Dreyfus (mere weeks away from signing on for the-role of Elaine on Seinfeld) makes many appearances. Randy Quaid makes a return appear-ance as Cousin Eddie, playing the same part from the initial Vacation film. Originally released in 1989, Christmas Vacation has remarkably little material that makes it seem old. Therefore, its certain to be a trip viewing tradition for generations to come. With a few of the greatest one-liners in most of comedy, youll get saying its talk for several Christmases to come.
