Capt. Mark Wright is a charter captain on Floridas east coast. He plies the waters of the Indian River Lagoon near Titusville in search of redfish, seatrout and other fish species found in the lagoon. His daily routine results in exposing all his equipment to the rigors of saltwater and its harsh effects on metal objects.
His standard practice is to keep his handgun with him. I pay special attention to my every day carry (EDC) piece, reported Wright. It goes with me almost always, including on my guide boats. I do not stuff the gun into a dry-box, as many captains do, but simply leave it in the holster and place it in my console glove-box.
