Agni Foundation - Chennai Floods Rescue &Relief update 7/12/2015 – Part II

Another satisfying day comes to a close with over a lakh people served food, water, emergency items, blankets, clothes and other materials.

We were blessed with the support of nammachennai Police force who escorted all our 350 field volunteers during the relief distribution. Apart from the amazing fact that we distributed INR 61,00,000 worth supplies that were donated entirely by the generous and kind hearted samatarians from all over the country, the best part of the day was how warmly our volunteers were recieved in the adversely affected areas in Porur, Pallikarnai, Selayur and outskirts of Gummidipoondi.

Special thanks to the increased force of dedicated and socially responsible volunteers who helped load, unload and distribute these materials to the victims.

A big hug to my new found family members of the BLINK foundation:

Sagar, Fazilla, Solomon, Ajmal, Nabil, Aiswarya and others of that young army. The synergy of both BLINK and AGNI has enabled us to achieve and surpass our noble expectations to serve the society.

Finally, my baby brother who decided to stay back in India and serve the hapless victims of the Floods alongside all of us was the icing on the cake. He loaded/unloaded 5 buses worth of materials and coordinated all the pickups and drop off points with all the volunteers. It would have been a tall ask for Agni Foundation to serve the way we have been doing for the past 2 weeks if it wasn't for Vishnu Jayaprakash. You’re the best.

SURYAN FM 93.5 is officially partnering with us to spread the awareness. So far we have registered more than 500 volunteers. Kudos!
