I AM sure that the damp-proofing companies won't agree with
me, but it seems to us that pretty much all of the houses that were
built without a damp-proof course now have a one fitted.
There are some properties which, despite never having had a
damp-proof course, have never shown signs of rising damp but it's
rare for surveyors to find a house that hasn't had one retro-fitted
in the recent past. That's not to say that we don't find damp
houses, quite the opposite.
