about a year ago, on a Friday night, while on our way to Sun City,
my friend and I drove straight into a riot. Rocks were hurled at my car
and one came through the windscreen and hit my head -- right here.
It was one of the most terrifying experiences I've ever had. I
still remember the crazed anger with which that man lifted his arm and
threw the rock at me.
Sometimes the universe whispers. And sometimes it shouts so loudly
and violently that you're forced to listen.
The rock was my wake-up call. It jolted me from my sweet slumber to
tell me to stop being a passive par- ticipant in my own life.
