How to Use the Temperaments
Along with the mixolydian goes from G This is number four in a set of short articles exlaining how to utilize ancient musical manners to strengthen inner stability and balance. The first article covered the next dealt with the Phlegmatic Temperament the subject broadly; and the third. The present article deals with balancing the Sanguine. D E F G A B C The dorian mode is the same, but starting and finishing on the next note (D). So it goes like this from the therapeutic Perspective, the mode has a range of seven notes: * Cheerfulness * Trouble with punctuality The Modal Scales' Building * Wears Heart on his/her sleeve. (Too innocent and trusting) * Favorable character If you have followed my so far, you will have noticed that the hypomixolydian along with the dorian are indistinguishable, as they both begin on D. But the hypomixolydian contains its own principle and is a mode that is distinctive. They ought to complete on another note, although hypomixolydian melodies start in the same manner as the other modes. They should finish on the Mixolydian's Closing, which happens to be G. Likewise the phrygian mode starts on the next note, (E); These four are the "authentic modes". The four "hypo-" manners are known as "plagal". Their companions equilibrium, and should be found beginning a 4th below. Therefore, for example, the hypodorian begins on 'A' (a 4th below the 'D' of the dorian. * Optimism The sanguine minimised by VENUS, vgainoexo and is magnified by JUPITER; The lydian goes from F to E; These are the notes of C major: Playing the Lydian mode raises this Sanguine's good qualities. Consequently, if we have to feel more optimistic, or more social, for instance. We should listen to this manner. If, on the other hand, the Sanguine is overly strong in us, (perhaps we've been enjoying a little too much recently, or need grounding), we could play with the hypolydian. This mode would help fix an out-of-balance Sanguine if we have been have been experiencing Sanguine qualities that are damaging. * Enthusiastic nature From the point of view of ancient Greek music therapy, a tune should always begin on the 6th note of this root major scale (or even the "dynamic middle") and finish on the bottom note of the manner (the "Final"). The notice 'A' is defined as being the 6th note in C's origin in our case. The 6th of this origin major signifies the SUN. By beginning on A, and returning to it often, then ending on the Final, the Solar Power ('A') is drawn down to the world represented by the Closing of the mode. Therefore, in the case of the Lydian, the Sun ('A') is concentrated on Jupiter (F, or the 4th of this root important). The phlegmatic minimised from the MOON and is increased by the SUN; * Warm personality * Affable nature The choleric diminished by MERCURY and is exaggerated by MARS; The dorian is governed by the SUN. So one of its strengths is that it's fantastic for general wellbeing. The hypodorian, on the other hand, is dominated by the MOON. So it helps us to fall asleep. Therefore the phlegmatic, which is also ruled by sunlight and Moon is balanced by both of these modes. The hypomixolydian has no world of its own, but is regarded as the manner of universal, cosmic bliss. It may therefore be used for all therapeutic functions, and is associated with the entire Cosmos, (known as the Sphere of the Fixed Stars in ancient times. This mode is used to equilibrium SATURN from the humour. * Easy going character Sanguine types are normally very sociable". When it is in balance, the sanguine humor exhibits these attributes:- Vitamin E F G A B C When It's unbalanced it jobs:- I'll also enter the Pythagorean concept of the Four Temperaments and the Eight musical manners. * Inconsistent According to the Astrology of the Pythagorean School, two divisions govern every Temperament: the effects of the character magnifie, and the minimises them. MARS rules the phrygian mode. Mars, being "warlike," works towards the nature of the Choleric. The hypophrygian, however, is ruled by MERCURY. Since Mercury is a messenger, this mode is useful for decreasing the warlike nature of the Choleric, and replacing it.
